What is Psychological First Aid?
This classroom-based certification course is for those who require knowledge and techniques to recognize and assist people in mental health crisis after experiencing loss, grief, trauma, and stress, with an emphasis on self-care and personal protection.
Learners will apply the Red Cross Look, Listen, Link, Live model - a resiliency-building approach to emotional, psychological, and social well-being that teaches learners how to support themselves and others to cope with the effects of various types of stress and other mental health problems, and linking them to resources and supports within themselves or in their community. The course uses primarily case-based learning and includes the latest evidence from the international community.
Lifeshield offers a blended Psychological First Aid model, consisting of 45-90 minutes of online learning followed by a 2-day in-class program. The classroom session is offered in the Halifax - Dartmouth area at our Burnside location. Please click the link below for details.
